Program Details

Cleveland Program Details Year of Experience Corps project launch: The program started in 1997 as Seniors for Schools. In fall 2002, it became known as Experience Corps.

Neighborhoods served: Westpark, Hough, Lexington, Ohio City, Denison, Corlett, Lee/Seville, Miles, Lee/Harvard, Tremont, Glenville, and Broadway.

Schools served: Almira School, Adlai Stevenson School, Miles School, Charles A. Mooney School, Clara E. Westropp School, Robert Jamison School, Iowa-Maple School, Captain Arthur Roth School, Emile de Sauze School, Denison School, Union School, Willson School, and McKinley School.

Students served: 1,000

Grades/ages of students served: K-6

Experience Corps participants: 200

Participant hours logged last school year: 62,505

Requirements for volunteers: Application, interview, reference and background checks, pre-service training and orientation, on-going training
